 The Application Engineer plans and prepares design models of RRL equipment including but not limited to wellsite layout design and equipment selection, documentation of equipment such as engineering drawings, product specifications, product manuals and technical instructions. The engineer maintains an open line of communications with the client’s technical team, to ensure that equipment operational objectives are met. Overall contributes to excellence of Business Unit processes and ultimate customer satisfaction.



  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in design of RRL completions (equipment selection, design run based on different client criteria, etc)
  • Knowledge of equipment to allow for proper/optimized equipment selection, depending on well conditions
  • Knowledge of RRL application design software tools such as RodStar or SRod
  • Field and training experience preferred, especially in the areas of installation and workover of RRL pumping units
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experienced with PC software: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Projects, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Preffered:
    • Knowledge of RRL field optimization systems (rod pump controllers, variable speed drives)
    • Knowledge of Field Optimization / SCADA software use






  • The duties and responsibilities include (not listed in any particular order):

    1.1 Reviews contracts to determine what documentation is required for each phase of the project. Confers with engineers, managers, customers, and others to discuss the project, prepare documents, or modify contract schedules.

    1.2 Schedule due dates for drawings, specifications, software, technical manuals, and other documents

    1.3 Monitors the status of the project to ensure documentation is submitted according to schedule. Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements

    1.4Submits project documentation to management for approval, and transmits approved documents to the customer

    1.5 Responsible for the design of new wells and improvements to current producing wells

    1.6 Monitoring well performance, participating in failure analysis on surface and down-hole equipment and optimizing wells to ensure maximum efficiency and cost effective performance.  Liaison with Optimization engineers and monitoring technicians to update status of operation of wells

    1.7 Other areas of focus include reducing failure frequency by correcting design and operating procedures as well as introducing and applying new technologies. It is essential to collaborate with down-hole specialists, well analysts and operations engineers in providing designs and solutions to lift problems.

    1.8 Binding link between customer’s operations team and project manager/operations lead team

    1.9 Assist in planning and coordinating training on products and services

    1.10 Maintain and track job data for designs and operations

    1.11 Respond to technical inquiries.

    1.12 Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.

    1.13 Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

    1.14 Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

  • Availability on a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week calendar

  • Non-rotational assignment, personnel must live in country of operation requirement (Kuwait)
