JOB SCOPE: Under the general supervision of a Leadman, Operate CNC lathe or mill used to machine Weatherford equipment and components per drawings and prints issued by engineering.
Know and understand Weatherford’s Enterprise Excellence Process and the Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
Perform basic operational function of CNC machines.
Maintain acceptable reject and scrap rates, production rates.
Identify problems and be able to correct most of them with assistance.
Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments and work piece on machine.
Install cutting tools in machine.
Load control media, such as tape, card or disk, in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve pre-programmed instruction from database.
Calculate and set machine controls to position tools in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
Start machine and monitor displays and machine operations to detect malfunctions.
Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments, under supervision.
Maintain proper maintenance of machine, equipment and facilities and keep in proper condition.
Must provide all needed measuring tools and box to keep them in. Basic tools required: 12” hook scale, 12” calipers, 0-6” ID/OD Mics. Equipment must be ordered within 90 days of start date.
Keep the machine area clean and orderly at all times.
Responsible for recording all labor hours with time system accurately.
Handle machine finished items in a careful manner to prevent damage, and function in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damage.
Responsible for cleaning machine and area prior to leaving each day.
Capable of learning and moving to the next higher level.
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Must understand and comply with all applicable licensee requirements.
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
- Ability to set-up and run any CNC lathe with some assistance and troubleshoot same programs for potential errors.
- Scrap rate is consistently below 4% of output. Meets or beats production standards 95% of the time.
- Ability to make program edits with some assistance.
- Ability to use geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- 3-5 years of experience required.
- Ability to read a measuring tape, micrometer and calipers
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Able to completely inspect machined parts.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and instructions.
- Advanced knowledge of machines used, and processes.
