Basic Function:

 

Has responsibility for directing a variety of tax-related activities in accordance with the overall tax strategy so that organisation meets its tax obligation and objectives. Manages the retention and preparation of tax records, tax returns and other required reports. Assesses the impact of an organisation's tax liability. Advise senior management on tax matters and on the potential impact of current and future regulations on operation. Manage ongoing engagement with external consultants and advisors. Lead, direct, evaluate and develop tax professionals to ensure that tax strategy is implemented consistently and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Research, analyse and interpret tax laws and provide written memoranda on various projects and transactions;
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes, increase efficiencies and improve the quality of the team’s work product;
  • Serve as the point person on coordinating and directing efforts on non-recurring special tax planning projects including but not limited to acquisitions, dispositions, accounting method changes, domestic manufacturing deduction, and research and development tax credit.
  • Assist with reviewing and documenting uncertain tax positions
  • Build tax models and forecasts for emerging tax issues and analysis
  • Provide support in tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, on-going tax issues, and impact of statutory and regulatory changes to federal, state and local tax laws on the company
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to gather information, analyse, and complete projects
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline tax accounting processes and build synergies
  • Support SOX provision compliance and documentation
  • Other ad hoc projects as directed by management

Required Education:

  • Degree in Accountancy/ Professional accounting or tax qualification e.g. CPA/ ACCA/ CTA etc.

 

Required Experience:

  • Min 6 year experience in a similar role.
  • Background or past experience with a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) and/ or MNC
  • Prior experience in tax strategy implementation, planning support and project management will be advantageous.
  • Technically strong with solid knowledge and experience in local tax laws related to Direct and Indirect taxes
  • Knowledge of International taxation laws and regulations with regional tax exposure in MENA, Asia Pacific is advantageous.
  • Existing knowledge of transfer pricing regulations and approaches for the oil and gas industry clients, including offshore contract drillers, integrated exploration and production companies and oilfield services companies
  • Experience in recommending and reviewing appropriate transfer pricing for cross border transactions
  • Experience of reviewing and preparing Reviewed transfer pricing documentation for global entities to ensure compliance with various local statutory TP requirements
