Key Purpose


To design, develop and maintain our suite of software applications used for interpretation and analysis of geophysical data within the oil and gas exploration industry.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Design and develop new functionality for the suite of wireline data analysis and interpretation applications.
  2. Investigate reports of problems with the software systems supported by the software development department and fix these systems as required.
  3. In conjunction with other members of the department, help to provide a data recovery service, manipulating problem data sets so that they can be successfully delivered to our customers. This will require you to be on-call as part of a rota providing out-of-hours support on a 24/7 52 week per year basis, for which an additional allowance is payable.  Where possible we will provide the ability to perform this function from home.
  4. Work with other software teams, both in East Leake and other locations around the world, to provide integrated and consistent software products across the company.
  5. Liaise with other departments to facilitate the correct interaction of the software with hardware and other software systems.
  6. Work with personnel in other locations around the world, providing a high standard of customer support. If necessary to provide this service, to travel to other locations around the world for short periods.
  7. Follow the processes defined for addressing maintenance and support issues and for new development. Use the systems provided by the Company for this purpose.
  8. As required, to design, develop and maintain any of the other software applications and systems developed by the department.
  9. Abide by the company’s health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Numerate Degree. (Example disciplines include: Computer Science,

Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Electronics)


Degree 2.1 or above or very good A-levels


Good C++ skills


Experience of software development as part of a degree course, placement or employment.
