This role will act as the right hand person of the NAM Controller providing dedicated financial and commercial support.  With the support of dedicated business analysts, this individual will act as the financial conscience of the NAM Controller providing high level analysis of financial results (both over-all and on behalf of the geozone), the setting of strategic direction, recommendations on health and future of under-performing business units and direction on issues such as capital allocation and deployment.  This role will be intimately involved in all critical decision making within the U.S. geozone and therefore have a hand in the future growth and success of the business.


Facilitate the delivery of strategic advice and support to key business stakeholders within the North American realm.

Facilitate the development of new initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency.

Able to understand both the operational and financial needs of Weatherford and identify areas to maximize value for both functions within the U.S. geozone.

Initiate and implement plans to maximize the use of financial resources to meet operating objectives and plans.

Support the acquisition or divestment process by analyzing financial performance, support transaction structuring, negotiation, valuation, due diligence and closing.

Conduct research and implement projects/new systems required to support business strategies/leverage scale and raise the level of financial capability.

Provide a critical support role in tracking the execution of business plans, especially in regard to financial controls, analysis of outcomes and reporting.

Lead the management and development of the geozone’s financial forecasting and planning model.

Work with key business stakeholders to improve and refine business models to facilitate the planning and forecasting process.

Facilitate business modelling and understand discrete scenarios and the impact of the inclusion of a variety of commercial opportunities on the business.

Manage the budget and forecast process for the U.S. geozone.

Work with other finance and key business leaders to improve service levels and effect necessary change.

Ensure relevant stakeholders are fully informed of the geozone’s financial position and are provided with accurate and relevant information necessary to carry out their statutory and legal obligations.

Leads the provision of quality financial reporting and analysis.

Work closely with key stakeholders across the organization to provide reporting and analysis that will facilitate business improvement and operational efficiency.

Develop and implement best practice in financial reporting and analysis.

Implement quality systems that support adaptability and continuous improvement.

Ensure the development and maintenance of robust reporting, analysis, systems and processes.

Prepare management briefings, presentations and position papers for both internal and external communications.

Provide financial analysis and support to NAM Controller regarding existing and proposed geozone operations, including growth and development strategies, cash flow projections and financial modelling.

Lead, develop, manage and motivate a small team.

Manage geozone business analysts and ensure teams are adequately resourced.

Responsibility to manage teams to ensure that asset and inventory counts are performed in accordance with company policy, including the continuous reconciliation between financial, operational and physical records. Advise management on slow-moving and obsolete inventory strategies.

Establish effective communication channels with the senior management team, as well as external providers.

Provide timely and appropriate information and support to relevant internal customers.

Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

Identify, assesses and recommend strategies on issues relating to the management of risk identified through conduct of this role.

Qualified Accountant (CPA or recognised International Qualification such as CA, ACCA or CIMA).

Knowledge/experience of Sarbanes Oxley and other SEC requirements.

Experienced in management reporting, and providing support to all levels of operational and non-financial management.

Strong practical experience in US GAAP accounting.

Minimum 10+ years’ experience, preferably with in a similar industry role.

Record of success within an oilfield services organization.

Strong communication skills (both written & oral).

Experience of managing, developing and motivating a team.

Strong knowledge and experience in accounting practice.

Experience of working closely with operational and other non-financial personnel.

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.

Experience of budget and forecast preparation, written commentaries on business performance.

Experience of working capital management and providing advice to management in this area.
