JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide technical CygNet support to internal and external customers. Make suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements. Assist in development of user manuals with internal development team. Work with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software. Implement solutions in customer test and production environments. Assist internal and external customers with new system deployment and patch installations. Project work related to new customer enhancements, scripted solutions, HMI development, and web services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical CygNet support to internal and external customers via telephone, email, or via remote assistance tool(s). Ensure support needs are met.

Assist internal and external customers to upgrade and configure the software.

Participate in software testing as needed during the release cycle.

Troubleshoot complex issues, with simulation/reproduction of issues in order to find resolutions.

Work with other Weatherford internal teams to resolve issues.

Participation in customer trainings, meetings and technical troubleshotting sessions.

Use ticketing system(s) and time reporting systems to accurately report issues, document activities, and report time.

Identify cause of problem reported by debugging VB, C/C++, SQL, HTML, XML and other code and if necessary correct them or report them to the developers.

Assist with software deployment at customer sites as assigned.

May require occasional travel to remote company or customer field sites for meetings, implementation of systems, support of systems, or for training.

Requires participating in 24x7 rotation with other team members to respond to critical system support requests.

Work with the commercial team to manage and distribute licensed software to customers.

Create and distribute activity reports.

Must be willing to work in a team environment and with other team members.

Perform design, code, and test of software based upon requirements.

Employ software engineering methods and practices to create artifacts to support the implementation and support of software products.

Support the creation of documentation and training material.

Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Windows familiarity (server 2008R2+ and windows 7+)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to calmly manage crisis situations in a fast-paced environment

Ability to plan ahead and organize daily and weekly tasks

Ability to work individually or as part of a team

Constant attention to detail

Strong diagnostic skills to track, trouble-shoot, and determine root cause of software and hardware issues.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

BS Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent or worked equivalent experience

Preferred:

Visual Basic scripting experience

Experience in supporting SCADA software in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Understanding of the following technologies:  SQL, ODBC, IIS, ActiveX, C, C#.

MS Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.

At least 1 year of software support experience.

SCADA, PLC programming, and communication protocol experience.

Oil and Gas background or related experience.
